JGSA FAQ

JGSA Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is the youngest age my child can be to play?
A: Your child must be 4 years old on August 1st of the current year. You may also check our Age Matrix for all divisions.

Q: When and where will practices be held?
A: That really depends on your coach. Once the teams are assigned to a coach he/she will contact you with days, times and the location of your practices.

Q: When will the season start?
A: When the dates for the season are set all registered players will be notified via email as to when the games begin. Please be aware that due to weather issues, tournaments, special circumstances, etc… these dates are subject to change.

Q: How do I become a JGSA coach?
A: JGSA offers free coaching clinics and licensing (required), for all new coaches. The training will enable all new coaches to start the season feeling confident and well informed about soccer. You must be at least 18 years old to apply for coaching, and submit to a required background check. If you are interested in coaching please contact our Director of Coaches.

Q: How do I complete my registration if I registered on-line?
A: Your registration is not complete until you
mail in 2 signed registration forms for each child. In addition to the forms, we need a photocopy of each child’s birth certificate, and a check made out to JGSA-Arsenal FC or an on-line payment receipt. Please send the completed package to:

Q: What equipment does my child need to be ready for the soccer season?
A: All players need to have soccer cleats (must be soccer not baseball cleats), shin guards and the appropriate size soccer ball. Soccer ball sizes are as follows:
U6 and below need a size 3 soccer ball
U8-U12 need a size 4 soccer ball

Q: My children are one year apart. Can they play on the same team?
A: We do our best to place siblings on the same team, but we cannot guarantee it because we must do our best to balance the teams. In the past, we have been able to accommodate this, but there may be circumstances that could prevent it.

Q: What if I have questions this FAQ sheet did not answer?
A: Please feel free to contact our JGSA Administrator/Registrar, with any additional questions.
